Rocky Taylor

Associate Pastor of Care/ Emeritus

Rocky's life-long love of music overflows into his love to lead worship and to introduce others to a more intimate relationship with Christ through worship. In addition to helping lead the main worship service, Rocky directs the Chancel Choir, XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) Choir, assists with the Young Musicians (4th,5th,6th Grade) Choir, plays and assists with the Chancel Ringers (5 octave handbells), and assists with Associate Pastoral duties. Rocky is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a B.A. in Church Music and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received his Master of Church Music degree.

Rocky and his late wife, Ellen, have two grown children, Robbie (Associate Pastor of Music at First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet, SC), and Melody (Teacher at Seaside Elementary in Surfside Beach). Rocky has been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren: Hannah Marie Taylor (born August 19, 2009) and Joshua Christopher Taylor (born March 19, 2012).

He has served churches in North Carolina, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee, and has been Minister of Music & Associate Pastor since July 1994. Rocky grew up in North Carolina and has a passion for the UNC Tarheels!
