About Us

Since 1866, Conway's First Baptist Church sought to be present as a meaningful part of the body of Christ in our part of South Carolina. We believe God has called us to join God in God's redeeming, reconciling work of loving others and making a difference in the lives of individuals and families. If you are seeking a more meaningful life with Christ or, as a follower of Christ, you are looking for a church home with whom to serve, this web site can help you get to know what God is up to and how you can get connected. You are welcome here!
Together we praise God through worship and song. The most important function of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is the worship of God. To lead and encourage us in the ministry of worship, First Baptist Church teaches children through an age-graded music program, and adults through involvement in the Chancel Choir, Contemporary Singers and Musicians, hand bell choir and other opportunities.
Together we learn. We believe each Christian is responsible to grow in faith as a disciple of the Lord Jesus. We encourage individuals and families to get involved in ministries and missions that help each person growth as a Christian person, spiritually, emotionally and in community. You'll find information in these pages on ministries for all ages, and ways to share your faith in Christ through ministry and mission with the whole world.
Together we serve. Our worship of God and spiritual growth leads us to love others as God loves and serve to make God's love visible in the world. Visit our Partners page to meet many of our ministry partners and see how what they do might connect with your desire to serve "hands on." Through prayer and financial offerings, we support missions at home and around the world. Our children and youth learn and lead in ministry service. We actively seek God's calling to minister to the real needs of people in Conway and wherever God calls. We actively support in person and financially an orphanage and school in Haiti. Over the years, members of the church have traveled to work in Brazil, Kenya, Morocco, Guatemala, Chile, Guyana, Benin, Indonesia, Taiwan, Trinidad, Russia, and Afghanistan. Our youth have served in partnership with local ministries in Connecticut, North Carolina, and Georgia; and family groups have gone to West Virginia.  Church members have also volunteered to participate in "hands on" missions in our community.
